Settler of
                  Catan: Game of Thrones
BOARD GAMES!!!
Gen Con has board games OTHER than Dungeons & Dragons... like Settlers of Catan... there is even my favourite variant, GIANT Settlers (which involves a huge board you can literally walk around). Also check the GIANT Robo Rally!!!

At Milwaukee Summer Revel, my friend Rick Brown often has a smaller giant (ha) Settlers with cotton ball sheep (I'LL GIVE YOU WOOD FOR YOUR SHEEP) that is superbly made.

The Mayfair Games booth had the newest variant, A Game of Thrones Catan: Brotherhood of the Watch to demo. I had to resist preordering it on the spot... want... need... must... have...

WILDLINGS GONE WILD,
Basic premise: you are trying to defend The Gift (is this area mentioned on the television show? I can't remember - everyone should read the epically long books) and stop the Wildlings from breaching the Wall (echoings of the Cities & Knights expansion). Each player has a hero that will be changed out after being used once or twice.

If Wildlings breach the Wall too many times... EVERYONE LOSES.

Just like in Game of Thrones, this game is about #hardchoices.

All of the art on the cards is beautiful, the pieces are gorgeously sculpted, and I cannot wait to see the final version.

These guys on the right waited with me for almost an hour to play and fled to White Castle  RIGHT BEFORE our time came (there were only TWO demo stations to play this unreleased version) and I ran into them later. Hope you had two had a fabulous time at the Settlers Tournament!
These guys ALMOST got to play the game!

Arcade Room
ARCADE ROOM
Gen Con has really stepped up their video game game. There used to be just a couple lonely arcade machines on the exhibit floor (the only time I physically saw the second D&D arcade game, Shadows over Mystara, was in the late 90's).

The Arcade Room hosted a daily (and cumulative) high score   tournament for Galaga, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong. Sadly, Pac-Man was on one of the 8-way directional joy-sticks (not a 4-way directional...) in a MAME cabinet.

However, I did play a strange Donkey-Kongesque game, Kangaroo (WHAT THE...) that I had never seen before!

OVERWATCH TOURNAMENT

LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT THE OVERWATCH TOURNAMENT. WHY DOES EVERYTHING I TOUCH BREAK. I MEAN.

I AM TOTALLY SOMBRA
I HACKED THE COMPUTER.

To be fair, the poor guy working the tournament said these computers were  only supposed to be used for Hearthstone and they added more spots last minute. It was fun to play with you guys. The kid on the left was a boss Doomfist.

Maybe next year... #SadReaperMercy

Overwatch Tournament
D.Va and Sora
I may have missed the Lifeguard McCree (SAMF) and that gorgeous Mercy, but here is a picture of a D.Va!

All in all, very good spread of video games at Gen Con. Seriously, do you see how many different types of electronic game rooms there were? The Coin Op Arcade had a claw machine and one of those spinny rotating maybe you'll get a random prize things with Blu-Rays and XBox games (hahaha).

I even found a Mareep trying to play Werewolf!
